In a news statement, Pacific International Marketing, with the full cooperation and in accordance with the regulations of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced the voluntary recall of their cilantro due to its potential contamination with Salmonella, which may result in a possible health risk to consumers. Since Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections, this recall is being initiated as a precautionary measure. Consumers who have purchased the cilantro are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, and may contact the company for further information.

As an Olympia personal injury attorney, I’ve seen this kind of food safety recall many times over the coarse of my practice and I know the extreme effects they can have on affected consumers’ health.

In a news release, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), with the full cooperation of Ohio Processors Inc, announced the voluntarily recall of the company’s Instantwhip B/C Topping product because of a possible contamination by a milk ingredient (sodium caseinate). This ingredient could potentially result in many people experiencing allergic reactions. Consumers are being urged to stop using the product at once.

In a settlement with CPSC, E&B Giftware of Yonkers has agreed to pay a civil penalty in the amount of $550,000 for failing to report defective fitness balls, according to news reports. The CPSC alleged that E&B violated federal law by failing to inform the commission about the defective ball immediately after receiving consumer complaints. When the product was recalled in 2009, there were 47 reports of the product unexpectedly bursting when overinflated by consumers, resulting in injuries. Federal law requires manufacturers, distributors and retailers to report defective products to the CPSC or other federal agency within 24 hours after receiving information about the product.

As a Bellingham personal injury lawyer, I’m familiar with this type of recall and understand the serious injuries that can result from the use of a defective product. This is the importance of diligence in the reporting process; to ensure that further injury is prevented.

In a news statement, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $600,000 for failing to immediately report a defect in its toy bear beach chair (sold between March 2001 and October 2008), that resulted in incidents and injuries to consumers. The company became aware of 10 reports of injury between July 2007 and January 2009, but failed to report to the CPSC until March 2009. Federal law requires manufacturers, distributors and retailers to report to the CPSC within 24 hours after obtaining information about a defective product that may cause injuries and other health risks to the consumers.

As an Olympia personal injury lawyer, I feel it’s necessary to keep a close watch on the news coming out of the CPSC so that consumers may be better versed in the safety of the products they buy and, hopefully, prevent avoidable injuries. If you or your child have been injured through the use of a defective or dangerous product, contact a personal injury lawyer your city to discuss your rights as a consumer.

In a press statement, Arctic Cat Inc, working closely with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced the voluntary recall of their Arctic Cat Snowmobiles due to a failed headlamp fuse. This defective fuse was discovered during production testing of these models. There have been no reports of headlamp failures or injuries in association with this recall. Arctic Cat estimates that roughly 7,100 units have this problem. This recall involves models F, XF and M. The affected snowmobiles can also be identified by their vehicle identification number (VIN), which should be in between 105092 through 112175 or 800001 through 800033. These numbers are located on each side of the hood. Consumers should immediately contact a Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer for free repair service.

As a Bellingham personal injury attorney, I’m familiar with similar past recalls based on failed mechanical products and know the dangerous consequences they hold for affected consumers. If you’ve been injured in an accident that you think was the direct result of a failed mechanical product, call a personal injury lawyer in your area to learn more about your legal rights in the matter.
